Skálakot Farm Hotel
This is the authentic farm experience you seek but in a small boutique hotel that is already a household name on the South Coast. Located under the infamous Eyjafjallajökull glacier that erupted so memorably in 2010 – but no worries it is closely monitored so you are completely safe.
The hotel was built by a farmer that goes by the name of Mummi that still has some 300 sheep and is also a well known horse breeder. You may very well meet him in his working clothes or knitted sweater, usually preceded by his booming voice. His wife Jóhanna has also made it her work to welcome people in her rather humble but genuine manner.
We often combine the overnight stay at the hotel with some horse riding in the area since they are also offering tours to their guests.
