DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN REYKJAVIK
On arrival to Keflavik Airport, you will be greeted by a driver who will take you to your accommodation in Reykjavík. After checking in, the rest of the day is open for you to explore the city centre and its variety of museums, small galleries, design boutiques, cosy cafes and relaxing thermal pools and spas. This small capital city is ideal to explore on foot as most attractions are within easy walking distance.
Spend the next three nights in Reykjavik.
DAY 2: REYKJAVÍK CITY WALK & NORTHERN LIGHTS
After breakfast, enjoy a guided small group walking tour in the heart of Reykjavik with a friendly local. Over the course of the 2-hour walk, your knowledgeable guide will introduce you to the landmarks and highlights of the downtown area while pointing out great restaurants, charming cafés and interesting activities available in Iceland’s charismatic capital city.
Later in the evening, if weather conditions allow, you will be taken for a tour in search of the magnificent northern lights, also known as aurora borealis.*
* Please note that the northern lights are a natural phenomenon and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
DAY 3: NATURAL WONDERS OF THE GOLDEN CIRCLE
A Golden Circle tour is a must for any traveller to Iceland as it introduces you to the natural sights in the south that the island is known for. Stops along the tour will include Gullfoss, a popular and impressive glacial waterfall along the Hvitá river. Another stop on the Golden Circle is a visit to the Geysir geothermal region. Geysir, which originated the term „geyser“, is a geothermally active area with regular eruptions. While Geysir lies dormant, its neighbour Strokkur erupts every few minutes, gushing steam and water from the bowels of the earth among an icy landscape. The Golden Circle also inculdes a visit to Þingvellir National Park, the site of the country’s first parliament along the edge of the great rift created by the drifting of the Eurasian and American continental shelves.
DAY 4: BLUE LAGOON AND DEPARTURE
Revitalize your mind, body and spirit the Icelandic way! Begin the day with a relaxing visit to Iceland’s treasured Blue Lagoon, a geothermal spa renowned for its therapeutic, mineral-rich waters surrounded by moon-like lava formations. After a nice soak, you will be ready for check-in at Keflavik Airport. (Note: If your flight is in the morning, we will change your travel itinerary accordingly.)
Please be advised that daylight is limited in Iceland during the winter months, with about 4-5 hours of daylight during the holidays, from December to January. Winter in Iceland is considered to be from October to April.
